Pest Solutions was announced as WINNER of the “Sustainability Initiative of the Year” Award 2025 at the National Pest Awards on a fantastic night of celebration at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester yesterday evening.
The National Pest Awards is the showpiece event of the UK Pest Control industry calendar with a night of great food, music and half decent company spent recognising the incredible work being done across the nation to protect public health, people and property from the threat of pest activity.
2025 was no different, and the Pest Solutions team had a fantastic time chatting and celebrating with fellow pest control companies from all across the UK.
National Pest Awards 2025 – Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award Winner – Pest Solutions
Pest Solutions has now been named as a winner at the National Pest Awards for 5 years in a row, with each and every award being incredibly special and a reflection of the excellence and hard-work of our incredible team.
Winning the Sustainability Initiative of the Year 2025 award is that little bit extra special, however, given the transformative effort made over the past few years to completely revolutionise sustainability practices in all aspects of Pest Solutions operations.
From our ever growing fleet of electric vans out in the field to a raft of energy efficiency upgrades made to our Glasgow office to becoming the very first pest control company in the UK to hire a Net Zero and Sustainability coordinator, Pest Solutions have made a commitment to becoming a future-ready pest control business meeting all our corporate, social and moral responsibilities as a modern UK business.
The work done by Maisie Bullock, in her time at Pest Solutions as Net Zero and Sustainability Coordinator led to the creation of a 2024-2029 sustainability strategy and laid the foundations for many of the positive changes we have made, so a massive shout-out must go to Maisie who deserves a huge amount of credit for this award as well as the Net Zero Achievement Award Pest Solutions won at the Glasgow Business Awards 2024.
All the findings from Maisie’s time at Pest Solutions were shared with our fellow BPCA members as part of our pledge to promote widespread change and create a more sustainable Pest Control industry as a whole and we were delighted to see how stiff the competition was at the National Pest Awards this time around.
There is some great work being done across the industry in regards to sustainability and we couldn’t be happier to see more and more businesses taking their responsibilities as a modern pest control business seriously.
A special shout-out to fellow finalists Vergo Pest Management and London Network for Pest Solutions for setting a new standard for sustainable practices in the Pest Control industry and we hope more and more businesses will follow suit in the weeks, months and years to come.
National Pest Awards 2025 – Diversity & Inclusion Award Finalists – Pest Solutions
Creating a positive, healthy, and productive working environment for all is the foundation of everything Pest Solutions is about, and being recognised as finalists in this most important of categories is a sign that we are moving in the right direction.
In an industry where over 80% of people are over 40 and female employment is under 5%, the Pest Solutions workforce is starkly difference, with over 50% female employment and a graduate scheme that has delivered many award winning young pest professionals over the past 5 years.
This is no box-ticking exercise, either, it is simply a case of raising awareness about the potential of a career in pest control as far and as wide as possible and hiring the very best person for each and every position that we have available.
Not rocket science, you would think, but given the concerning lack of diversity throughout the industry as a whole, there is clearly a huge amount of work that still needs to be done, and we are fully committed to being at the forefront of that change going forward.
Congratulations to Beaver Pest Control (Orkin UK) who won this years award, and to fellow finalists Rentokil for their recognition, it is fantastic to see that other pest control companies are making a commitment to tackle the worrying lack of diversity within the pest control industry as a whole and we look forward to working together to create a more diverse, sustainable and representative industry in the future.
