Record Breaking Fundraising Success for Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice

Record Breaking Fundraising Success for Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice

Pest Solutions were delighted to once again support The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice’s Light Up a Life Appeal, held during the 2023 Christmas lights switch on at Glasgow Central Station.

A whopping £1,327 was raised throughout the day thanks to the incredible generosity of the wonderful Glasgow public, and perhaps a bit of gentle encouragement by our enthusiastic team! Hospice Collection

For the 2nd year in a row, the management team here at Pest Solutions donned their winter coats, grabbed their collection buckets, and headed down to Central Station where they spent the afternoon chatting to the ever-generous Glasgow public and collecting for a fantastic cause.

We were joined in our fundraising efforts by our friends from Clarity Accountants, one of many Glasgow businesses who share our desire to support charities such as the PPOW hospice who do so much good in the area we call home.

The total raised is a record for the annual event, a credit to the people of Glasgow who are more determined than ever to give back to their community in a time of financial strain.

Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice

We are always looking for good causes to support in our community, and causes don’t get any more worthwhile than the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.

Founded in 1980, the hospice provides the very highest standard of person-centred care to individuals with life limiting conditions, and their families.

Based on the Scandinavian Sengetun palliative care model, the first hospice in Scotland to do so, the hospice puts well-being and a sense of calm at the forefront of everything they do, ensuring every single day is lived to the fullest.

In 2018, a brand-new hospice was opened in Bellahouston Park, a place dedicated to delivering the most compassionate of care for those diagnosed with conditions such as cancer, heart failure, lung disease, or neurological conditions.

This is somewhere where patients are treated with the respect that they deserve, and not only supports patients but also provides their families with services such as social work, counselling, and spiritual support.

A percentage of their funding comes via the NHS, but nowhere near enough to maintain the level of service and care they maintain at all times and every single year a whopping £3m worth of donations are required simply to keep the Hospice running.

We were delighted that the light up a life campaign was so successful, but more needs to be done, and we couldn’t recommend the charity more strongly if you are looking to make a difference this festive season.

Our Connections with the Hospice

Since first taking part in the campaign last year, our ties with the PPOW Hospice, a charity providing palliative care to those with life limiting conditions and their families, have only grown stronger.

Not only do we support their light up a life appeal at Christmas but several of our staff members now have family members volunteering at the hospice. We are always looking for additional ways to support the charity, and others throughout Glasgow who do so much good in our communities.

How Can You Help?

The incredible work done by all at the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice is only possible thanks to the generous contributions of their supporters in Glasgow and Beyond.

We would encourage anyone who is looking to make a difference this Christmas, or any other time of year for that matter, to donate whatever they can spare to this fantastic cause.

Whether a one off payment, and monthly contribution, or a gift left in your will, when you choose to donate your hard earned money to the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice you can be confident it will be used in the very best of ways.

What better way to give back then to help a wonderful charity make the most of every single second that those with life-limiting illnesses have with their families.
