Pigeon Control – By Professional Bird Controllers in Horsforth
Feral pigeons are the most prevalent avian pest challenge across Horsforth.
Ledgers, solar panels, and parapet structures are among the favourite spots that pigeons seek out for roosting and nest building.
Feral pigeons on Horsforth rooftops
Pigeons quickly settle on flat roofs, plant rooms, and open parapet ledges, and once nesting has begun an infestation can worsen fast through consecutive broods.
A single pair of wild pigeons can raise as many as six clutches of chicks annually!
Each year without a deterrent system grows the established population on an unprotected building.
Pigeon fouling and building damage
The uric acid present within guano relentlessly damages render, stonework, metal fixings and roof membranes, and on older buildings the pace of deterioration advances much more quickly than most owners ever anticipate.
Waste matter builds up on air handling units, solar panels, signage, and window sills.
Damp guano accumulating on pedestrian pathways and entrance areas situated beneath a roost presents a genuine slip hazard, required frequent clearance and generating recurring expenditure within property management operations.
Pigeon droppings harbour harmful pathogens such as Salmonella and have been associated with illness in humans, including food poisoning incidents occurring in commercial kitchens located beneath established roosting sites.
Our pigeon control programme comprises a full building survey, pinpointing every roosting and nesting spot before installing the appropriate deterrent system and handling guano removal where needed. Written records are supplied throughout for your health and safety documentation!
Solar Panel Pigeon Proofing in Horsforth
The underneath of solar panels provides an ideal sheltered roosting and nesting environment for pigeons throughout Horsforth’s residential neighbourhoods.
Birds nesting beneath solar panels present a twofold set of complications.
The nesting material poses a major fire hazard in close proximity to the panel wiring, whilst the accumulation of droppings over the panel surface gradually diminishes its overall energy output.
Our solar panel pigeon proofing uses a steel mesh system fitted to the edge of the panel array.
Our mesh is installed flush against the roof surface, making sure that no access can be gained beneath it whilst leaving every panel fully accessible for maintenance purposes. We provide proofing solutions for all panel types and orientations, and every installation is designed to be permanent.
If pigeons are nesting under your panels at a property or business in Horsforth, a visit to your property from our local team will confirm the correct specification.

Gull and Seagull Control in Horsforth
Gull populations have taken hold across Horsforth, and the challenges they bring as pests grow significantly more problematic throughout the nesting period.
Gulls on commercial and industrial rooftops
Seagulls are considerably bigger and much more confrontational than pigeons throughout the nesting season.
A rooftop colony established on an industrial or commercial building poses a genuine danger to those using entrances positioned below, and simply removing the nest does nothing to prevent the birds from coming back in the years that follow.
Successful seagull control demands a bird proofing solution that eliminates the nesting surface entirely rather than simply removing the nest.
Wire systems, netting, and gull wire fitted across flat roof sections deter landing and nesting whilst causing absolutely no harm to the birds themselves.
Wildlife and Countryside Act licensing
Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, gulls are given full legal protection.
Our pest management team manages all licensing requirements and makes sure that every aspect of gull control work is carried out in full accordance with current legislation, as the removal and deterrence of active nests requires the appropriate licensing to proceed lawfully.
We further provide guidance on timing, as removing nests outside the active season helps avoid the most complex licensing requirements and keeps the overall cost of the work down.
Bird Deterrents and Proofing Solutions in Horsforth
The most suitable deterrent is determined by the type of building, the particular pest bird species present, and the intensity of their activity.
We provide bird control solutions and bird proofing systems based on an on-site survey rather than a one size fits all approach.
Bird netting
Bird netting offers complete exclusion of pest birds across an entire elevation, roof section, or void, rather than addressing individual landing points in isolation. It represents the most appropriate solution for extensive or architecturally complex structures where ledge-by-ledge deterrent methods are unable to deliver comprehensive coverage.
Net systems are secured across stainless steel wire frameworks under tension and remain virtually undetectable from street level when installed properly on commercial premises.
We install bird netting across warehouses, mill buildings, loading bays, food processing areas, and any site where full exclusion is absolutely the aim!
Bird spikes and bird wire
Bird spikes and bird wire are extremely effective solutions for stopping birds from landing on ledges, parapets, signage, window sills, and roof ridges. Spikes are particularly well suited to flat, horizontal surfaces where pigeons tend to gather and roost in a straight-line formation.
Wire systems carry a more discreet presence and are particularly well suited to heritage or listed buildings in Horsforth where the visual character of the space must be carefully respected.
Wire gauge, pin height, and fixing method must all match the building and bird species involved, but both solutions are long-lasting and low maintenance once correctly fitted.
Avishock electric track and Bird Free gel
Avishock electric track works by delivering a gentle electric shock that teaches birds to steer clear of a surface whilst remaining completely safe!
It stands as the preferred deterrent of choice for historic buildings and delicate settings throughout Horsforth where mechanical systems would prove visually intrusive.
Bird Free gel posts are an optical deterrent placed to open ledges, CCTV brackets, and signage where alternative systems cannot be used.
The gel reflects UV light in a manner that birds interpret as flames. Birds steer clear of surfaces coated with Bird Free gel and stop returning to those areas.
Falconry bird control
Experienced hawks and falcons are used in falconry to disperse pest bird populations across expansive sites. It remains the most effective solution for large outdoor areas such as car parks, distribution centres, sports facilities and industrial yards.
Our bird control services in Horsforth include falconry on planned programmes or emergency call-out provision where rapid dispersal is required across West Yorkshire.
Commercial Bird Control in Horsforth
For organisations operating in Horsforth, the presence of bird infestations brings with it a weight of compliance exposure that reaches far beyond the immediate practical challenge of pest control.
Food businesses, warehouses, and distribution premises experiencing bird activity close to loading or production areas are at genuine danger of an environmental health inspection, and the presence of droppings near food handling surfaces will almost certainly result in enforcement action or an audit failure.
Our commercial pest control services in Horsforth incorporate bird control within comprehensive, co-ordinated pest management programmes.
We conduct our work outside normal working hours wherever site access permits, maintain thorough written records of all treatments and surveys undertaken, and produce comprehensive documentation to assist with supplier audits and food safety assessments.
Commercial bird control services also cover guano removal and site decontamination on sites where fouling has accumulated over a period of time.
The clearance of guano is often necessary prior to proofing installation so that the new deterrent system is installed onto a clean surface!
We collaborate with site managers to deliver bird control solutions that are carefully tailored to the demands of each location and its specific regulatory obligations.
